Obituary

Agnes Almena (Beaver) Beard, 87, of Southside, went to be with her Lord on Monday, March 16, 2015, at Pleasant Valley Hospital. She was an Evangelistic Minister for many years and was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church. Agnes served as a moderator of the Teays Valley Association and served two terms on the General Board of the WV Baptist Convention and also many state committees. She also served as President of the WV Women and the National Board of American Baptist Women as representative of the Eastern Area of the Denomination, consisting of 13 states.

Agnes was born on January 15, 1928, in Mason County a daughter to the late Sherman Mace and Oma (Hayes) Beaver. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Mary Colston Beaver; son, Nicholas Grogan Beard; and brothers, S. Mace Beaver, Jr. and Clifford Earl Roszell.

Agnes is survived by her husband, Jabez Thomas Beard; sisters, Gail Seagraves, of South Point, OH, Brenda Collins and Donna Taylor, and Rosemary Newman, all of Ironton; and grandson, Adam Jabez Beard, of Point Pleasant.

Agnes' life will be remembered at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Rev. Fred McCallister and Rev. David Radcliff officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
