Alice Sauer's Obituary
Alice Carder Sauer, 89, of Point Pleasant, died, January 8, 2008, in Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant. Alice was born, at Duncan, Jackson Co., WV, on January 2, 1919, and she was the daughter of the late Rev. Orton H. and Chloe Wilson Carder.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eldridge Sauer; her sisters, Aris Carder Langdon and Anna Carder Proffitt Barnett; her brother, Ancel B. Carder and her granddaughter, Martha Sauer Durey.
Alice was a member of Bellemead United Methodist Church and was active for 60 years in the Colonel Charles Lewis Chapter of the DAR, where she held many offices, including chapter regent. Alice was well known for her work at the Tu-Endie-Wei State Partk for many years serving as superintendent and hostess at the Mansion House.
Survivors include her sons, Richard (Judy) Sauer, John (Joanne) Sauer and Tom (Janet) Sauer; grandchildren, Frank (Sally) and Karl (JoEllen) Sauer; Sandra Jo Ferrell (Sam); Bobbie Wood (Charles); and John Richard (Brooke) and Michael Sauer; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Bennie, Erin and Katie Sauer; John Ross and Jillian Pino; Lane and Emily Williamson and Brody, Jack and Hudson Sauer; sisters-in-law, Mrs. J.P. (Della) Sauer and Mrs. Albert Sauer (Jean); 14 nieces and 4 nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2008, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, with Reverend James W. Lawson, officiating. Burial will follow in Suncrest Cemetery, Point Pleasant. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2008.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bellemead United Methodist Church, 510 Burdette Street, Point Pleasant, WV 25550.
The family especially wishes to thank Wanda Wray, who for many years has been a faithful and loving caregiver and friend. They would also like to thank Susan Bowser and Betty Whitt for their friendship and faithful support.
