Obituary

Annis Morrison Blessing, beloved mother, grandmother and great-
grandmother, went to be with her Lord on Jan. 15, 2008, at the Inn of Marietta in Marietta, Ohio.

She was a long-time resident of Point Pleasant, W.Va., having moved there when she married Roy E. Blessing in 1935. She was born on September 24, 1914, in Leon W.Va., one of 13 children of Holly and Belle Stone Morrison.

Mrs. Blessing was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, in 1995 and her daughter, Myrtle Mae Guenther in 2000. She is survived by her sister, Reba Morrison Jones, of Leon, as well as by her oldest daughter, Delores (Jerald) McCallister of Williamstown, W.Va., and her son, William E. (Allene) Blessing of Harrisonburg, Va.

She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Carole (Chris Nickel) McCallister of Columbus, Ohio; Susan (John) Richards of St. Albans, W.Va.; Anne (Tom) Moore of Springfield, Va.; Laura McCallister of Columbus; Nancy (Vince) Mammano of Eva Beach, Hawaii; Jeff (AnnMarie)
McCallister of Columbus; and David McCallister of Columbus; and six great-grandchildren, who brought great joy to her life: Reid Moore, evin Moore, Frank Mammano, Dominic Mammano, Weston McCallister and Ana Rose McCallister.

She was a member of the Heights United Methodist Church, where she
participated in many aspects of church life, including the United
Methodist Women, Administrative Board, and the Altar Guild. She also was active beyond the local church. She was the West Virginia
Conference Treasurer of the Women's Society of World Service of the Evangelical United Brethren Church (which later merged with the Methodist Church in 1968). She attended 11 General Church Conferences all over the world from 1952 to 1992 with her husband Roy, who was an
elected delegate to each conference.

Mrs. Blessing also was active in the community. She was a member of the Community Education Outreach club (Extension Homemakers), the Point Pleasant Women's Club, a charter member of Quilts 'n' Things, the Rebekahs, the ladies auxiliary of the Odd Fellows Lodge, and the women's auxiliary of the Gideons. In 1989, she was selected
to be the Mason County Belle. For several years, she was a caregiver for bedfast patients in their homes.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home in Point Pleasant on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008. Family and friends will celebrate Annis's life in a service at Heights United Methodist Church on North Main Street in Point Pleasant at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008. Reverends Janice Smith and Farris Burton will lead the service, which will be followed by a graveside service in Suncrest Cemetery.
