Barbara Lynn (Peoples) Lewis, 84, of Point Pleasant, WV, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021, at her home.  She was born September 21, 1936, in Pomeroy, Ohio.  She was the daughter of the late Robert E. (Bob) Sr., and Georgeanna Peoples, of Point Pleasant, WV.  Barbara was also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William R. Lewis, Sr.; two sisters, Judith Young and Roberta (Becky) Sprouse; and brother, Robert E. (Bobby) Peoples, Jr.

Surviving are Barbara's children, William R. Lewis, Jr., of Point Pleasant, Brenda (Keith) Saunders, of Bidwell, OH and Jenny A. Lewis, of Spencer, WV; grandsons, Joshua W. Lewis, of Middleport, OH and Nathan A. (Drew) Lewis, of Spencer, WV; and sister, Marianne Siders, of Lake Wales, FL. and sister-in-law Ruth Thompson of Mason, WV.

Barbara was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School, class of 1954 and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Marshall College in 1958.  She taught school for many years, in Mason County.  Barbara enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles and was an avid bird watcher.  She also loved her dogs and supported many animal charities.

There will be a graveside service on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 12:00 p.m., at Forest Hills Cemetery, with Rev. Jonathan Smith officiating.  Burial will follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions in Barbara's memory be made to an animal charity, or the Dementia Society of America.
