Belva Marie "Poochie" Jefferies, age 75, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016, at Hubbard Hospice House, in Charleston, WV. She was born August 4, 1941, to the late Theodore Roosevelt and Marie Bessie (Anderson) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by five brothers, Leroy E., Clarence R., Theodore, Jr., Leonard R. and Kerry Wayne Smith; three sisters, Clara B. Stover, Leona M. Smith and Betty McDermitt; a son, Arthur Lee Jackson; and loving husband, William B. Jefferies, Jr.
Poochie is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Dennis Flowers, of Point Pleasant; four sons, Austin Jefferies, of Point Pleasant, William "Scooter" and Julie Jefferies, of Hurricane, Paul Daniel and Cynthia Council, of Langsville, OH and Roy Alan Jackson, of New Jersey; five daughters, Gloria Smith, of Charleston, Bonnie Denny, of Hartford, Sandra Shamblin, of Nitro, Rhonda Anderson and Morris Neal, Pittsburgh, PA and Ella Mae and David Greenburg, of New Jersey; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She also has a special granddaughter, Kourtney Jefferies, of Point Pleasant; special grandson, Wyatt Jefferies, of Michigan and two special great-grandsons, Carson Wayne Brannan, of Point Pleasant and Noah Alden James Neal, of Pittsburgh, PA; special nephew, Dewayne "Bubby" Smith, of St. Albans; special friends and sister-in-law, Melba Jean Smith, Judy Jeffers and Jodi Shinn, all of Point Pleasant and Sarah Crumbley, of McArthur, OH.
Poochie's life will be remembered at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2016, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Rev. Jack McCoy officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday. The family asks that contributions be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.
