Betty Jo Hollis (90) Loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully Friday December 17, 2021 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, wv.
Betty was born to Fred and Grace Pratt on February 1, 1931 in Fort Gay, wv. She graduated from Fort Gay high school and later moved to Portsmouth Ohio where she met her husband Bill and had two children, Bruce and Kim. They moved to Huntington where Betty worked at J.C. Penny until she retired in 1994. She was a member of Westmoreland Baptist church where she frequently taught Sunday school and Awana.
Betty loved her children and her two grandchildren Drew and Morgan and she loved being with her family. Betty was a nurturing homemaker who enjoyed times spent at her childhood home, preparing meals, gardening and sharing memories with her brothers and sisters and extended family. She was selfless in giving and would always put others before herself.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Bill, father and mother Fred and Grace Pratt brothers Don, Pete, Dude, Ralph, Billy and Bobby Pratt, sisters Bertha Pratt, Racine Emery, Lois Cremeans and Dorothy Ross.
She is survived by her Children Kim (Tony) Fowler of Proctorville Ohio and Bruce Hollis of Huntington, grandchildren Drew and Morgan Fowler of Proctorville, Sister Patty King of Spring, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington for taking such good care of Betty and making her final days peaceful where she was surrounded by her family.
I'm lieu of flowers and donations, the family requests that all donations be made to Hospice of Huntington or the Alzheimer's Association.
There will be a memorial service held in honor of Betty for family and friends to share in the wonderful life and memory of her at the family's home place in Mill Creek in the Spring of 2022.
