Betty Sue Perry of Point Pleasant went home to be with her Lord surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 6, 2008.
She was born Betty Sue Dunbar to Hubert and Betty Dunbar on October 28, 1939 in Charleston, West Virginia. She married Charles Franklin Perry (Chuck) on June 2, 1956 and moved to Point Pleasant on July 2, 1959.
Betty took great joy in being a homemaker for her family and showered them with her unconditional love. Betty had four sisters, Shirley Jean (Daniel Stone), Patty Lou (Jimmie Swanson) and Joyce Ann (Rick Crookshanks) Bobbi Jo (Ernest Porter). Betty and Chuck had eight children, Charles Jr. (Leisa Wedge), Mary Jane, Jean Ann (Randy Bevins), Danny Ray (Vicki Jarvis), David Wayne (Susan Terry), Lynn Marie (Joe Carter), Johnathon Michael (Bobbi Stranahan) and Kristina Sue (Chauncy). She delighted in her seventeen grandchildren – Craig Shannon, Carly Jo, Seth Richard, Burley Giger, Kristen Renee (Thomas Fitzgerald), Joshua Brandon (Amy Krannenberg), Elizabeth Ann, Steven Andrew, Scott Alan, Sean Michael, Kathleen Nicole, Courtney Renee, Brendan Michael, Briley Dakota, Jasmine Nicole, Brysin Michael and soon to be welcomed into this world, Landon Adam. Betty was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, Heather Elizabeth, Jodi Raeann, Victoria Sueann, Abigail Christine and Riley Giger. Many of her happiest moments were spent in time with her children and grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.
Betty's other joy in life was her relationship with her Lord and her brothers and sisters in Christ. Betty was very active in the First Church of God for over forty years, Pt. Pleasant. She taught Sunday School for all ages from the small children up to adults. She led the Vacation Bible School program for many years, taught crafts and devotions at summer youth camp and served as the President of the Women of the Church of God at First Church of God, Pt. Pleasant. Betty's faith and joy in the Lord were an inspiration to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Raymond and Cecil Walker, her father Hubert, her stepfather Walter Schoolcraft and her daughter, Mary Jane.
A Celebration of Betty's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m, Saturday, August 9, 2008, at the First Church of God, Point Pleasant, with Pastor Carl Swisher, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Letart, West Virginia. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, August 8, 2008, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Point Pleasant and one hour prior to the service at the church.
