Braxton Jerome Smith,age 11, of Point Pleasant, WV, went home to be with his Savior on Sunday morning,January 19, 2014, at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus,OH, from critical injuries sustained from a tragic house fire. Two of his siblings were also critically injured, and his sister, Tiffany J. Grant has since deceased.
He was born March 22, 2002 at Holzer Hospital, Gallipolis Ohio to parents, William L. and LaTanya D. Smith, Jr. He was a member of Paint Creek Baptist Church Gallipolis, Pastor Harry Scott, Jr. He was also a member of Awanas at Main Street Baptist Church, Point Pleasant, Pastor Richard Sargent. He was a sixth grade student at Point Pleasant Intermediate School where he played youth football and basketball. He also played baseball and was a member of the AAU for track and field.
He was preceeded in death by a loving aunt Tina M.(Smith)Casey, paternal great-grandparents Wallace A. and Inez M. Smith,Jr. and maternal great-grandparents, Harry S. Franklin, Wilford N.Preston and Helen L."Redd" (Armstrong) Anderson.
He is survived by his parents, William L. and LaTanya D. Smith, Jr.; one sister, Adrienne J (AJ) Grant; two brothers, Tyler Grant and William L. (Tre) Smith III; paternal grandparents William L. and Zenobia Smith; maternal grandparents Christopher E. (Pete) and Sharon Anderson. Uncles, Christopher (Pete) Anderson Jr., Christopher Bryan Smith and Noah J. Smith; Aunts, Inez M. (Michael) Whitt, Melissa D. Smith and Melinda D. (Smith) Neal; Nieces, Alexa Nance and Maci Ferguson; Nephews, Jonah and Jace Downer. He is also survived by several great uncles and aunts; many special cousins, friends and loved ones.
He will be remembered most for his special caring and sharing love for his family and friends, his love to run and his ever increasing love for football including college and pro statistics, especially the Seattle Seahawks. He believed in prayer and enjoyed praying nearly every night with his parents.
Braxton and Tiffany's lives will be celebrated together on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at the Point Pleasant High School Auditorium, with Braxton's father, Bill Smith, Christian Scott, Minister and Scott Justus, coach officiating. Burial will follow in Pine
Street Cemetery, Gallipolis, OH. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
