Bright McCausland, 90, of Southside, WV, died Thursday night, April 22, 2010, at Pleasant Valley Hospital. He was a retired employee with the Mason County Board of Education as a principal and teacher. He was also a self-employed farmer and grandson of Civil War General John McCausland. Bright was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII in the 14th Forwail Observation Battalion. He was also a special friend to actor Don Knotts, who would visit Bright each year at his home.
Bright was born June 14, 1919, in Henderson, WV, a son to the late John and Norma L. (Bright) McCausland. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, John McCausland and Dr. Alexander McCausland, IV.
Bright is survived by his cousins, Doug and Pam Brown, of St. Albans and Smith and Louise McCausland, of Southside; and caregivers, Kayla Nave, Heather Hutchison, Marion Robinson, Bob Rimmey, Kristy Robinson and Ryann Greer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Rev. Bill Deem officiating. Burial will follow in Suncrest Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
