Butch Black, 62, of Gallipolis Ferry, WV, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at CAMC Teays Valley, with his family at his side.  Butch served our community as a former EMT for Mason Co. EMS and a dispatcher for Mason Co. Emergency Services and was also the former Fire Chief of Valley Fire Dept.  He served our country as Marine Corps. veteran.  He was born December 18, 1956, a son to the late Richard and Ruby Black, of Ona WV.  in addition he is preceded in death by a brother: Greg Cale and sisters: Scarlette Penny Black and Carla Wray.

Butch is survived by his wife, Karen (Prichard) Black; his children, Darrell Black, of Gallipolis Ferry, Amber Black, of Racine, OH, Valerie (Joe) Stapleton, of Vinton, OH, Jennifer Black, of Henderson, Angel Dunn, of Southside, Rachel Payne, of Apple Grove, Josie Cooper, of Madison, WV and Jasmine Kesterson, of Ben Salem, PA; and Clinton Black, brother; Steve (Debbie) Black, sisters; Dreama (Steve) Clarke and Gloria Carroll along with his biological mother: Wanda (Charles)  Wray and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Butch's life will be honored with a firefighter funeral at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2019, at the Valley Fire Dept., with Pastor Bo Burgess officiating.  Burial will follow in Maupin Cemetery, in Ona.  Visitation will be at the fire station from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  You may offer condolences to the family via this webpage.
