Carl Joseph Loomis, age 91, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at his sister's home. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in England as a dog trainer. He worked construction and had worked as a deckhand on the river. He was a member of the New Haven Church of God.
Born November 3, 1917, in Akron, OH, he was a son to the late Joseph Vernon and Nora Mae (Fruth) Loomis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Mae (Swan) Loomis; a step-son, Capt. Archie Haymand; brothers, Roy, Jack and Harold Loomis and sister Helen Redmond.
He is survived by a son, Charles Loomis, of Ripley; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Edwards, of Charleston, WV and Reba and Jack Jacobs, of Indianapolis, IN.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Pastor Carl Swisher officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 12, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
