Carroll C. Durst, 82, of Point Pleasant, went home to be with his precious Lord, Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was a retired coal miner and was a member of the First Church of God, in Point Pleasant. Born October 16, 1927, in Cottageville, WV, he was a son of the late Kinsy and Lydia (Hughes) Durst. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Garnett Ward and Wilma Keefer; and two brothers, Rev. Kenneth Durst and Rex Connie Durst.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna Louise (Keefer) Durst; two daughters, Carolyn Davis and Juanita and Douglas Pierson, all of Point Pleasant; a brother, Glen Durst, of Lancaster, Ohio; four grandchildren, Barbie and Todd Johnson, Steven Crilow, Clara and Chad Brown and Katie Pierson; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a special friend, Vera Standish.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Pastor Carl Swisher officiating. Burial will follow in Suncrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening, June 11, 2010, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Church of God Building Fund, 2401 Jefferson Ave., Point Pleasant, WV, 25550.
