Clifford Eugene "Gene" Lear, 78, of Gallipolis Ferry, passed away on Monday, April 03, 2017, at his home. He was a graduate of Huntington East High School and was a member of the Carpenters Local #1159. He was born June 4, 1938, in Gallia County, a son to the late John B. and Mary Lillian (Hineman) Lear. In addition to his parent, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louise (Cromley) Lear; brothers, Curtis Elwood Lear and Fred Lear; and sister, Doris Hankinson.

Gene is survived by his children, Genia Campbell and Lisa Roush, both of Gallipolis Ferry, and Clifford and Annie Lear, of Point Pleasant; grandchildren, Edward Campbell, II (Amy), Hayley Roush, Mariah, Nick and Christian Hill and Lilly Lear; great-grandchildren, James Campbell, Aubrie Thomas and Jade Campbell; and his sister, Dixie Craft, of Raceland, KY.

There will be a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Pastors Annetta Durst and Bob Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
