David Lee Critchfield (70) of Zanesville, Ohio passed away peacefully in the presence of family March 30th. He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson. He is survived by his wife Fran of the home, his mother Alma Jean Critchfield of North Augusta, South Carolina. Brother, Danny Critchfield of North Augusta, South Carolina and sister, Karen Graham of St. John, Indiana. Sons, Michael Critchfield (Bridget) of Flatwoods, Kentucky and Brian Critchfield (Jill) of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Alan McClure of Zanesville, Ohio. Grandchildren Erin (Daniel), Aubrey, Hayden, Heidi, Joseph, Coleman and Hannah.
David was born to Nelson and Alma Jean (Noll) Critchfield July 17, 1951. He was raised in Point Pleasant, West Virginia and graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1969. He attended West Virginia Tech and obtained degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mining. He had a long and varied career with AEP.
David loved his family, considering his responsibilities to them of highest priority. He was a loving husband, conscientious and kind son, a committed father and a concerned brother. He truly enjoyed his relationships with all of his family members, considering time spent with them as his best times.
David enjoyed a variety of hobbies throughout his lifetime. He is fondly remembered for enjoying electronics, computers, woodworking, golf and his love of bluegrass music. His favorite instrument to play was the banjo. David was extremely intelligent and was a lifelong learner, often reading about a variety of subjects that interested him. David is remembered for having a dry sense of humor and a glowing smile.
There will be a private family graveside service proceeding his interment in Kirkland Memorial Gardens in Point Pleasant Tuesday April 5th at 11 am.
