Doris (Waugh) Painter, 86, died at her home in Point Pleasant early in the morning of June 3, 2016.
She was the daughter of the late Shirley E. Waugh and Ina (VanSickle) Waugh. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Painter and sisters Louise Ferrell and Wanda Fisher.
Doris, known to her family and friends as "Jo," was born January 15, 1930, on 9 Mile in Arbuckle district. She graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1947. She worked as a clerk in the Mason County Sheriff's Office and was a member of the Saint Paul United Methodist Church. She was a beloved mother, aunt and sister, and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her son James W. Sturgeon III of San Francisco, California; her sister Natalie Waugh of Falls Church, Virginia; her nephew Samuel (Helen) Ferrell of Houston, Texas; nieces Andrea Rosegrant and Amelia Rosegrant of Falls Church, Virginia; great-nephews Samuel A. Ferrell of Gallipolis Ferry and Ryan Ferrell of Houston; and great-niece Rebecca Mitchell of Dallas, Texas.
Jo's life will be remembered at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 9, 2016, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Pastor Bob Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Suncrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
