Elizabeth Jane (Jordan) Thornton, 59, of Gallipolis Ferry, WV, went to meet her Lord and Savior, Thursday afternoon, July 9, 2009, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was a 1969 graduate of PPHS, a homemaker and a 4-H leader in Mason County for over 21 years, the organizational leader for Mountain Climbers 4-H Club in Gallipolis Ferry and was a member of the Cross Blood Resurrection Church in Gallipolis Ferry.
Elizabeth was born May 21, 1950 in Point Pleasant, WV. She was the daughter of the late Hugh Meade and Nellie (Rice) Jordan.
She is survived by her husband, Reverend Charles J. Thornton; one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Erica Thornton of Gallipolis Ferry; a sister-in-law, Faye Jordan of Gallipolis Ferry; a brother-in-law and wife, Jim and Connie Thornton of Point Pleasant; a sister-in-law, Judy Cole of Point Pleasant; special friend, Anna Wallis and three grandchildren, Taylor, C.J. and Katy.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Reverend Brian Root, officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery, Crab Creek Rd., Gallipolis Ferry. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 until 9 P.M., Monday, July 13, 2009.
