Esther Mae Walker, 87, Gallipolis Ferry, WV, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at her home.
She was born, November 25, 1921, in Apple Grove, WV, the daughter of the late Howard Cobb and Mary Frances Shivley Cobb.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Lee Olen Walker on
August 24, 2007. In addition to husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Everett, Vaughn, Paul, Lester and Melvin Cobb and sisters, Leota Call, Clara Turley and Ella Burris.
She attended the Gallipolis Church of Christ In Christian Union. She was employed for several years at the Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Food Services.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy (David) Smith, Kenova, WV; Sharon (Bill) Hanshaw, Point Pleasant; one granddaughter, Frances Lee Ann Hanshaw, Ashland, KY and one sister, Eleanor Cobb, Point Pleasant, WV. She is also survived by many close nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2009, 11:30 A.M., at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home with the Rev. David Smith and the Rev. Verlin (Sampy) Hart officiating. Burial will be in Beale Chapel Cemetery, Apple Grove. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, April 7, 2009.
