Floyd Ray Knapp, 63, of Letart, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2011, as a result of an auto accident. Floyd served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of Vietnam. He was an employee of Lieving Plumbing and Heating, of Point Pleasant. He was a retired United Mine Worker from the AEP Meigs Mine #31.
Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, being in the mountains and spending time with family, especially the grandkids. He was always there to help when needed.
Floyd was born on November 3, 1947, in Letart, a son to the late Eugene and Ella (Durst) Knapp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita (Strange) Knapp; his sister, Beatrice; his infant brother, Charles and brother Claude Knapp. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Sarah Jane and Casey Hart and Beth and James Miller, all of Letart; and Steven and Kim Knapp, of Columbus, OH; his grandchildren, Dustin Hart , Tristan Wilson and Aidan Miller and Steven Ray Knapp; three brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Beverly Knapp, James Knapp and Tom and Donna Knapp; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda Sturgeon, Maxine and Jack Warner and Sharon and Larry Willcoxen; several nieces and nephews and his friends and neighbors of the Letart community, especially his best friend, Tom Christie.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Evergreen Cemetery, in Letart, with Pastor Bob Patterson officiating. Military honors will be provided by the West Virginia Honor Guard and the American Legion, Mason County Post #23. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation.
