Garnet I. (Snyder) Burdette, 91, of Letart, WV, died Saturday morning, September 4, 2010, at the Holzer Medical Center. She was a retired cook and teacher's aide for Mason County Schools; a member of Bachtel United Methodist Church, a member of the Eastern Star in Mason and a member of the Friendship Club.
She was born, August 3, 1919, in Parkersburg, to the late Walter J. and Pearl E. (Marshall) Snyder. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bevan Burdette and one sister and brother-in-law, Genevieve and Harold Burdette.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Janie Burdette of Pt. Pleasant; a special niece and her husband, Charlotte and Donald Harper of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Gary W. Burdette of Lawrence, KS and Anna and Adam Frazier of Point Pleasant and her great-grandson, who was the light of her life Owen Frazier.
The family would also like to give a special thanks to her special caregivers and lifelong friends, especially, Rhonda Wood and Zelma Kaylor.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Nease, officiating. Family and friends will gather after the service at the Parkersburg Memorial Gardens, Parkersburg, WV, for a graveside service at 12:30 p.m.. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m., Monday, September 6, 2010, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Point Pleasant , with an Eastern Star Service to be held at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holzer Hospice, c/o Holzer Medical Center, 100 Jackson Pike, Gallipolis, OH, 45631.
