Gayla Ann Smith was called home after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday April 15, 2014 while at Pleasant Valley Hospital.

Gayla was born in Point Pleasant, WV on February 17, 1954 and was the daughter of the late Janet Casey, besides her mother she is preceded in death by a brother; Mike Casey.

Gayla was a complete joy to be around, she loved spending time with her family, she enjoyed watching the Food Chanel and was an avid WVU football fan. Gayla was a member of New Hope and loved her church family and you did not have to ask what her biggest joy was, you simply just had to watch her as she was supporting her grandson Ian Bradley Smith. No matter what he was doing, basketball, baseball, it didn't matter Gayla was there supporting and coaching him to ensure that he did his very best.

Gayla was a very gentle and caring mother, wife and grandmother that loved her family above all else she took great pride in each of her children and their accomplishments.

While the heavens receive a new angel Gayla leaves behind her loving husband Rick and their three children: Chris Smith, Shane (Kara) Smith, and Amy (David) Smith-Nelson, one brother; Sam Hall, three sisters; Vicki (Jerry) Moore, Paula Keefer, and Belinda Hacker-Stewart.

Also surviving are her best friend; Barb Cavender of Winfield, WV which she enjoyed ball games and lunches with and the one that put the biggest smile on her face, her pride and joy, grandson Ian Bradley Smith.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate the life of Gayla Smith on Friday April 18,2014 at Crow- Hussell Funeral Home beginning at 6 PM with a funeral service officiated by Pastor Steven Sanderson to follow at 830PM.
