Hazel E. "Grandma" Peck, 94, of Leon, WV, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday morning, March 24, 2010 at the Holzer Senior Care Center, in Bidwell, OH. She was a homemaker and member of the Yauger Community Church. Born August 2, 1915, in Ambrosia, WV, she was a daughter of the late John and Olive (Jordan) Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer Peck; three sons, Charles, Keith and Donald Peck; one daughter, Ruth Thomas; two grandchildren, Brenda Filkins and Donald Thomas; a great-grandson, Dalton Shreve; a son-in-law, Alvin Keefer and her brothers and sisters.
Hazel is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Betty Peck, of Chelsea, AL, Larry and Becky Peck, Roger and Debi Peck and Michael and Rhonda Peck, all of Leon; two daughters and son-in-law, Eleanor Keefer, of Leon and Frances and Don Cantrell, of South Charleston; eleven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Leon Baptist Church, in Leon with Pastor Basil Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Yauger Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home on Friday evening, March 26, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Yauger Cemetery Fund, c/o Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, 1701 Jefferson Blvd., Point Pleasant, WV, 25550.
