Jack Blount Park, 81, of Point Pleasant, WV, died on March 4, 2015, at his home, after a short illness. Born June 29, 1933, in Point Pleasant, he was a son of Victor E.S. and Helen (Blount) Park, of Point Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Victor E. Park and his furry friends, Jeep, Pepper, Rusty and Pearl.
He was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School. Jack served in the U.S. Air Force prior to his graduation from Marshall University, with a B.A., majoring in Art and Speech and an M.A. in Fine Art.
A lifelong artist, his greatest influence was his father, Victor E.S. Park. He enjoyed experimenting with many forms of art throughout his life. He was a member of the faculty of Point Pleasant High School, where he taught art, debate, graphic art and computer technology. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and love of art with his students family and friends. He was also a mentor and teacher to local artists.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Molly Kate Park; his son, Jackson Andrew Park, of Charleston; his daughter, Victoria Park Anderson, of Columbus, Ohio; three granddaughters, Andrea L. Park, Elizabeth K. Schopis and Kathryn R. Schopis; and his great-granddaughter, Olivia.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, as Jack's life is celebrated on Sunday afternoon, March 8, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to: Pleasant Valley Hospice, 1011 Viand St., Point Pleasant, WV, 25550.
