James Roy Hurlow, Jr., age 67, of Leon, was ushered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 30, 2015, at his home. He was retired from Charleston National Bank and was a farmer. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was also a member of the VFW Post 9926, in Mason, WV and the American Legion, Mason County Post #23, in Point Pleasant and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was born June 20, 1948, in Letart, a son to the late James R. Sr. and Edith M. (Blevins) Hurlow. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two nephews, Kevin and Tony Gardner.
James is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Kenneth White, Judy and Steve Johnson and Geneva "Cookie" Gardner; brother and sister-in-law, Michael "Mike" and Rose Hurlow, all of whom reside in Point Pleasant; and nieces and nephews, Christopher Hurlow, Amy Crank, Valerie Johnson, Brooke Farrington; Stephen Johnson and David Gardner.
James' life will be remembered at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at the Grace Baptist Church, Ohio River Road, with Rev. Jonathan Pinson officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Hills Cemetery, with military burial honors being rendered by the VFW Post 9926 and American Legion Post #23. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
