James Leo Matheny, 76, of Leon, West Virginia, died, Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at his home. He was a retired craft worker at WV Department of Highways and was a member of Pine Grove Church in Leon, West Virginia.
Born, November 30, 1931, in Leon, West Virginia, he was the son of the late William Sampson and Goldie Irene (McDade) Matheny. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Marie Matheny, a half-sister, Ivyellen Stewart and four brothers, Cecil, Teddy, Denver Ray and Charles Ray Matheny.
He is survived by three sons and daughter-in-law, Gary (Cheryl) Matheny, Jim Matheny and Doug Matheny, all of Leon, West Virginia; one sister, Wanda Jordan; one brother, Earkie Matheny; one half-sister, Dora Mae Mattox; a half-brother, Dencil Matheny and two grandchildren, Rachael and Jared of Leon, West Virginia.
There will be a private graveside service, Friday, December 7, 2007, at Pine Grove Cemetery, with Reverend Johnny Hayman, officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Pine Grove Cemetery Fund.
