E. Jean (McNeal) Sauer, age 94, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at the Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Jean was a retired Deputy Clerk of the Mason County Clerk's Office. She had also worked as a Nurse's Assistant for Dr. Ismael Jamora and the Lakin State Hospital. She was a member of the Sandhill Road Church of Christ and had participated in the Mason County Relay for Life, as a cancer survivor. She was also a 1940 graduate of Point Pleasant High School and was a founding member of the PPHS Alumni Association.
Jean was born February 13, 1922, in Point Pleasant, a daughter to the late George E. and Kate Margaret Blanche (Allinder) McNeal. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Sauer, Jr.; infant son, Albert Sauer, III; brothers, James and George McNeal; sisters, Florence E. "Shorty" Ross, Audrey Pearl Bailey, Opal Riffle and Anna Lee Massie; and son-in-law, Kenneth McMillan.
Jean is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa McMillan, of Point Pleasant, Sharon and Harlow Hutchison, of Grove City, OH and Jane and P.J. Ryal, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Dawn (Tim) Sanford, Romona (Derek) Trice, Robin (Jeff) Foster, Erin (Danny) O'Brien, Mary Jane (Derek) McConnell, Courtney (Chris) Sayre, Jeremy (Tiffany) McMillan, Lindsay (Colbe) Ingels; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Miller, of Point Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May, 14, 2016 at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Pete Allinder, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Suncrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service. Jean has requested that rather than flowers, contributions be made to the Sandhill Road Church of Christ, in her memory.
