Jerry is survived by siblings Richard and James Bain, both of IL and sister-in-law Nancy (Smith), (Gary) Taylor of Point Pleasant, WV. Jerry was so loved and will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. Since June, Jerry has enjoyed his visits with his newest great great nephew Decker Swann.
Jerry always met everyone with a smile and helping hand. He was not only a son, husband, brother, father, uncle, avid Thundering Herd and Big Blacks fan but also a Black Knight Band Parent for many years. Jerry's big heart made him first in line to extend a helping hand to his community, church, friends, and family.
Jerry enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1966 and did 2 tours in Vietnam. He took great pride as a Sergeant in the USMC..He was active in the MGM attachment 1180, receiving Recruiter of the Year 2022. He was Commander of the American Legion Post 23 since May 2021, and Adjutant for many years prior. Jerry was the epitome of the Marine Corps Motto "Once a Marine always a Marine".
Jerry was also preceded in death by siblings Munroe "Sonny" Bain, William "Bill" Bain, and Ruth Ann (Bain) McEntyre. Jerry was a member of Heights United Methodist Church and was a retired Production Shipping Operator from ICL of Gallipolis Ferry.
Jerry will be greatly missed by his family, friends, Marine brothers, Rivers Edge Camping buddies, and everyone else that had the pleasure of meeting him.
We have entrusted Jerry to the care of Crow Hussell Funeral Home. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Scott Justus for making Jerry feel at peace by being in the hands of a great friend and fellow Marine. Karen and Staci would also like to extend their gratitude to Jerry's special caregivers while he was at home, Nancy (Smith) Taylor, Lori Loomis-Wedge, Lisa Loomis, Lesley (Loomis) Dvosis, and Sydney Crawford.
