Jimmie Lynn Wood Sr., 75, of Point Pleasant, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, at home with his family by his side.

Jimmie was a retired Emergency Officer and Fire Chief for the city of Point Pleasant. He was a member of the Point Pleasant Vol. Fire Dept for over 30 yrs. He also was an auxiliary Police officer in the Point Pleasant Police Dept. Jimmie served his country honorably in the United States Army. He loved spending time with his family and helping others. He loved listening to music and enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, bird watching and enjoyed looking at vintage cars.

Jimmie was born November 18, 1943, in Washington DC, a son of the late Lewis "Tudy" Wood and Margie Persinger Bagby Higginbotham. He was raised by his grandparents, William and Olive Wood. In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his uncles and aunt, that were more like brothers and sister; F. Paul, Charles, Elmer, Ray, Donald, Robert, James and Clarence Wood, and Sybil Dennis; also, sister Sharon Bagby and brother Lowell Bagby Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 51 years, Judith Roach Wood and his 3 children, Tammy (Doug)Dalton, Darlene Wood and Jimmie (Ashley) Wood Jr. He also has a daughter, Dawn Hapsic; 8 grandchildren, David Rodgers (Cheyenne Preece), Jennifer (Corey) Page, Jessica Dalton, Jimmie Wood III, Justin Wood and Taylor Wood, Nicki Hapsic and Daniel Hapsic and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, William (Barbara) Wood; sisters, Elizabeth Daugherty, Carolyn Wheatly, Mary Perry, Linda Tuttle, and Charlene Simmons.

Funeral Services will be held at Crow Hussell Funeral Home, in Point Pleasant, WV. Visitation is Friday, March 22, 2019, between 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 11:00 am with Rev. James F. Kelly III officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkland Memorial Gardens. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
