Joan (Whittington) Woyan, 81, of Southside, passed away on March 8, 2011, at her home, with her family by her side. She was a homemaker and had spent her life working on her family farm.
Joan was born on March 8, 1930, in Buffalo, WV, a daughter to the late Abraham and Mabel (Holley) Whittington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford L. Woyan, her infant son, Larry Woyan; her granddaughter, Paula Nicole Frye; her grandsons, John Adam Woyan and Justin Matthew Hudson; her great-grandsons, Jeb Andrew Adkins and D.J. Juhan; and her brother, Jim Whittington.
Joan is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Timmy and Vickie Woyan, of Point Pleasant and John H. and Suzanne Woyan, of Apple Grove; five daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Larry Sydenstricker, of Atlanta, GA, Debbie Woyan, of Southside, Marilyn and Paul Frye, of Branchland, Judy Woyan, of Glenwood and special friend, Randy Powers and Robin and Rick Gunter, of Stoneville, NC; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Hubert Whittington; and two sisters, Hazel Kize and Kathleen Grover.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Rev. Max Spurlock officiating. Burial will follow in the Clifford Woyan and Family Memorial Gardens, in Southside. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening, March 10, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
