Obituary

John Melvin Bordman, of Point Pleasant, WV, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 4, 2014, at the age of 92. He was born June 23, 1921, a son of the late Charles and Edith (Edwards) Bordman.

He was a longtime member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Point Pleasant. Melvin served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was the owner and operator of Bordman Furniture, until his retirement. Melvin was a veteran member of the Gideon International Organization and a former member of the Kiwanis International Club, where he participated in numerous service activities, as service is the heart of every Kiwanis International club member.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons: Don Melvin Bordman and Danny Bordman; brother, Charles Bordman; and sister, Clara Wood.

He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 71 years, Jewell (Caudill) Bordman; a daughter, Vana Bordman; son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Barbara Bordman, all of Point Pleasant; a niece, Athens Kingery, of Point Pleasant; and sister-in-law, Juanita Bordman, of Leon. He was the grandfather of Rod and Rosemary Bordman, of Norwalk, OH, Ryan and Gina Bordman, of Missouri City, TX, Chris and Tricia Bordman, Cary, NC, Chad and Kourtney Bordman, of Winston-Salem, NC and Cam and Kara Bordman, of Greensboro, NC; and great-grandfather to Megan, Kaylan, Ethan, Owen and Eliza Bordman and Cara Jackson. Melvin was blessed with several close friends, including: David and Marlin Yost, Kay Robinson, Jason Waugh and Catlyn Bowling.

Melvin was a devoted and loving husband and father. He was known for his generous and caring nature. Melvin was a creative and artistic person and enjoyed numerous hobbies and life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, in Point Pleasant, on Monday, April 7, 2014, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Steven Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirkland Memorial Gardens, in Point Pleasant. Visitation will be held at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gideons International Organization, P.O. Box 75, Point Pleasant, WV, or New Hope Baptist Church, 3 Robinson St., Point Pleasant, WV, 25550.
