John Delbert Hill, 63, of Point Pleasant, who was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle went to be with the Lord on January 14, 2009, following an extensive illness.
John spent three years in the US Army as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. After being discharged he lived in California and Kenton, Ohio for several years before returning to the Mason County area. He worked many years at the Philip Sporn Plant and at Mason County Motors. He and his wife, Bette Jean Keen, whom he married, on June 13, 1970, had just returned to Point Pleasant after having lived in Port Orange, Florida for six years. They loved to build pieces of furniture for family and love ones and were looking forward to setting up their wood shop and starting new projects in the spring.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest L. Hill in 1972; his mother, Elizabeth (Pearson) Hill in 1999; a brother, William B. (Dickie) Hill, in 1960 and an infant sister.
He is survived by his wife, Bette; four children, Jon Blyne Hill, Bettina Jayne Hill Brown, Brandi (Ed) Fisher and Lacey (Nick) Bolin; ten grandchildren, Destiny and Madelyn Hill; Gabriel, Mickale and Lillian Hill; Guy, Byron and Hannah Fisher and Nicholas and Jacob Bolin and eight brothers and sisters, Ernest (Sonny) Hill, Jr., Sally Wears and Wilma (Bunny) Hill all of Point Pleasant; JoAnn McDonald, Mary Jones, Virginia (Pudgy) Stickler and Shirley Byus all of Gallipolis, Ohio and Nancy Hill of Proctorville, Ohio and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, January 19, 2009, at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, with Reverend Jamie Watts, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
