John Edward Sang, age 82, of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on September 23, 1943, in Huntington, West Virginia, to the late Ruth and Bob "Coach" Sang. He graduated from Barboursville High School in 1961 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education from Marshall University in 1967.Besides his parents he is preceded in death by siblings, Michael, Robert and Cindy.
John is survived by his devoted wife and bride of 58 years, Leota. He is also survived by his sons: Brad Sang and his wife Melanie, and their children Olivia (Ryan) Liptrap, Aidan (Sydnee) Sang and great-grandchild Saylor Sang; Isabella Sang; Brent Sang and his wife Jaime, and their children Carlee (Peyton) Hughes and Brennen Sang; Brian Sang and his wife Wesley, and their children Miles, Clara, and Harbour; and his youngest son, Beau Sang and his wife Sarah, and their children Jack and Will, one brother Rick (Jana) Sang as well as a sister-in-law, Sue.
John dedicated more than 50 years to the automobile business, serving in many capacities. Most recently, he was a partner with his eldest son, Brad, at John Sang Ford Lincoln. Beyond his love for selling cars, John was an avid golfer and could often be found several times a week enjoying courses throughout the Tri-State Area.
John was a passionate supporter of Marshall University and the Thundering Herd. His commitment included active involvement with the MGM Club and was one of the founding members of the Athletic Car Program at Marshall University, which to this day provides vehicles for the coaching staff.
John also was a dedicated volunteer to his community. He and other members founded the Mason County Tourism Committee for the county. Over the years he also served on various Chambers of Commerce, Marshall Mid-Ohio Valley Board, Cincinnati Regional Ford Dealer Advertising Fund and Point Pleasant River Museum. In 2003 he was awarded the Community Service award by the Mason County Chamber of Commerce.
Visitation will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on Friday, January 2, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A formal service will be held at the church on Saturday, January 3, at 11:00 a.m.
