Johnnie Andrew "John John" Wamsley age 52, of Apple Grove, WV passed away Thursday April 6, 2017 in Gallipolis, OH. Johnnie was an avid outdoorsman hunter and fisherman, played baseball his entire childhood, loved NASCAR racing, four-wheeling and loved his children and grandsons unconditionally. He was a deckhand and pilot on the river most of his life, just like his father and grandfather, most recently for Marathon Oil. He was born October 24, 1964, to the late George Richard and Letha Turner Wamsley, of Henderson.
He is survived by his wife, Stacy (McDermitt) Wamsley; his children, Amy Lynn Wamsley, Johnnie Andrew (Rachel) Wamsley, Megan Michelle Wamsley and Jessie Nicole (Chris) Workman, all of Point Pleasant, Nicholas Ray Wamsley and Samantha Wamsley, of Pliny; four grandsons, Benjamin Wamsley, Conner, Collin and Caden Workman; brothers and sisters, George Ricky Wamsley, Rebecca Rainey, of Apple Grove and Mary Fielder, of Gallipolis; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Letha (Turner) Wamsley; brother, Simon Wamsley; sister, Veva Brown; grandparents, Simon and Anna Turner and George M. Wamsley and Mary Magdalene Devictor; uncle Lanny Wamsley and brothers-in-law, Michael Rainey and Edward Brown and niece, Billijo Christy.
There will be a funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Henderson Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home.
