Obituary

GALLIPOLIS FERRY, W.Va. — Karie Lyn Morrison, 42, of Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia passed away on Saturday January 27, 2024.
She was preceeded in death by four grand parents, Henry Clay Morrison of Fieldale, VA, and his wife Mary Ruth (Foley) Morrison, Frank Borden Wyatt Sr. and his wife Margie Jean (Anderson) Wyatt.


Karie left behind four children. Alex (Tra) Arlin Bryan III, Shelby Warren Bryan, Sophie Lyn Bryan, and Patience Estevan Weethee. Two siblings, Dustin Stuart Morrison and Ashley Dawn (Morrison) Buckle, Karie's sister-in-law Ashley Nicole (Wamsley) Morrison and brother-in-law Brandon Lee Buckle, and her parents W. Stuart Morrison and Linda Lee (Wyatt) Morrison. As well as, a niece Mya Dawn Buckle and two nephews Clay Jeffery Stuart Morrison, and Connor Lee Buckle.

Born in 1981 in Martinsville, Virginia, Karie was the oldest of three children. She had an early interest in animals and enjoyed visiting her maternal grandparent's farm in Patrick County, Va.


Her summers there were spent playing in the creek with her siblings and cousins and teaching her little brother and sister to catch crawdads and not to touch the electric fence.


Upon moving to West Virginia in 1994, she attended Hannan High School from which she graduated in 1999, where she was known for her laugh, and her ability to make the best joke about any situation. She will be remembered by all for her gift of bringing light to even the darkest days.

Upon graduation Karie attended Marshall University but found her calling as an aid for folks with special needs, the elderly, terminally ill, and others in need. She was an artist, a great listener, a mother, a sister, a daughter, and friend.


She never met an animal she couldn't spoil rotten, and was always willing to lend a non-judgmental ear to family and friends. But most of all, she was loved deeply by all that were blessed to be a a part of her life, however brief.


A celebration of Karie's life will be held at Life Springs Community Church on Jackson Avenue, on Saturday Feb. 17 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers her family asked that donations be made in her name to the Mason County Animal Shelter. 1965 Fairground Rd. Point Pleasant, WV 25550
