Kathleen Virginia Mayes, 101, of Henderson, WV, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at her home. She was retired from Bernadine's Department Store, in Gallipolis and also had worked at the WV Malleable Iron. She was born March 12, 1923, in Mason County, a daughter of the late James and Elsie McDermitt. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Mayes; siblings, Mary Lou Rayburn, James Scott McDermitt, Hamilton McDermitt, and Albert McDermitt; and several nieces and nephews.

Kathleen is survived by nieces, Stacey Rayburn (with whom she made her home), Elizabeth Rayburn, Mary Shamblin, Diana Jones, and Margaret Atkinson and family; nephews, Christian Derenberger, and Michael Pauley; special friend, Dixie McDonald, of Gallipolis; and several nieces, nephews, and other family.

There will be a funeral service at 2:00 pm, Tuesday,  June 11, 2024, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Pastor Bob Patterson officiating.  Burial will follow in Suncrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. You may offer condolences to the family via this webpage.
