Kenneth M. Tompkins, age 83 of Point Pleasant, passed away Sunday August 9, 2015 at Cabell Huntington Hospital after a short battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents R.P. Tompkins and Jo Alma (Moore) Tompkins, sisters Marjorie (Nichols) and Jo Ann (Chaney).
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 61 years Mary (Whittington) daughters Deborah (Scott) Martin, Vanessa (Pete) Williams and sons Kenneth M.(Jr.), Thomas (Diane) and Roger Scott. 8 grandchildren Dawn (Adam), Amanda (Bryan), Candace (Scott), Josh (Amanda), Nickolas (Jill), Thomas (Sarah), Charice, Rebekah. 14 great-grandchildren Justin, Connor, Maegan, Brittany, Paris, Olivia, Trenten, Morgan, Felicity, Trinity, Kayden, Dax, Colton, Carson, and Tony, along with many nieces and nephews.
Kenneth served his country during the Korean War as a medic in the Air Force. He retired from Columbus Distributing after 20 years of employment. He was also an independent insurance agent for Grange Insurance for 25 years in Johnstown, Oh.
Kenneth volunteered at Pleasant Valley Hospital for 9 years serving a total of 3,000 hours.
He was and avid OSU fan enjoying viewing football and basketball games over the years especially The Best D*mn Band in The Land marching band during pregame and half-time shows.
Memorial services will be Saturday August 15, 2015 at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 with military honors, visitation will be from 12 to 1.
