Obituary

Randall Kenton Sheline, 66, of Point Pleasant, touched down on the eternal playing field, Saturday, May 15, 2010, at home surrounded by loved ones.

The "CAKES" was born March 15, 1944 in Henderson, WV. A son to the late Claude D. Sheline and Oma G. Wamsley Sheline.

He was a life-long resident of Mason County where he passionately served the community in multiple facets. He was a member of the American Legion Post 23, a member of the Masonic Lodge Minturne 19 of Point Pleasant, served on the board of the Mason County Action Group, served one term as a Mason County Commissioner and also served several years as the president of the Big Black Backers.

Kenton graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1963, where he excelled at football and very proudly wore the #25 Big Blacks jersey. His passion for PPHS and the Big Blacks athletic program was evident through his contributions of time and dedication to the young athletes of his community.

He served in the United States Army (Big Red One) during the Vietnam War. He earned the Purple Heart and many other service medals. Kenton was a member of Carpenter's Local 1159 of Point Pleasant for 41 years and 3 months. Nearly 20 years of that service he spent as Business Agent until his retirement. At which time he became an avid golfer and a very familiar face at Emma's Galley. He was a member of the First Church of God.

He is survived by son, Jay (Stephanie) Sheline of Point Pleasant; daughters, Denise (Chad) Pequignot of South Whitley, IN, Morri Sheline Dabney of Point Pleasant, and Kensey Sheline of Mesa, AZ; six grandchildren, Brittany Sheline Buskirk, Justine Sheline, Seth and Sydney Pequignot and Chase and Carlee Dabney; brothers, Kermit and Jack (Nancy) Sheline; sisters, Reba Lovejoy, Irene (Clayton) Hesson, Brenda (Jim) McCausland and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.

A Celebration of Kenton's Life will be held at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home-1701 Jefferson Blvd, Point Pleasant, WV, Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with Carl "Boxer" Swisher, officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Sheline Family Cemetery on Redmond Ridge Road, Henderson, WV. Friends may call from 5-9 Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Point Pleasant Big Black Backers c/o PPHS Athletic Boosters 280 Scenic Drive Pt. Pleasant, WV 25550.
