Lajena R. Barker 78, of Point Pleasant, passed away Thursday June 21, 2012 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center.

Lajena was a daughter of the late Herbert and Sibyl Craton Barker, besides her parents she is preceeded in death by her son, John Barker, and one sister Eleanor Smith.

Lajena was a longtime resident of Point Pleasant, Wv, and a retired teacher of Mason County Schools. Lajena loved to teach and continued to do so, in her own way long after she had retired.

She is survived by, her son; Phillip and Joni Harper, one daughter in-law; Alice (siders) Harper, her loving grandkids; Scott and Mark Harper, Stormy Harper, Jessica Hall, Robert Harper, and Mikie and Tara Davis, also her great-grandkids Ryan and Karria Hall. Lajena is also survived by two brothers; Dr. Kenneth Barker of Lewisville , Tx., and Herbert Barker who resides in Arizona. Lajena was loved and will be greatly missed by the family and friends she leaves behind.

Friends may join the celebration of Lajena's life Saturday June 23, 2012 from 5-7pm at The Crow-Hussell Funeral Home. The family will hold a graveside service at Englewood Cemetery in Hazard Ky, the first part of next week.
