Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" Edward Sidenstricker, 73, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda (Woyan) Sidenstricker; three daughters Sonia Sidenstricker, Staci Sidenstricker, and Lara Griffin; son-in-law Sean Griffin; five grandchildren Jon Aaron Sidenstricker, DJ Juhan, Derrick James Juhan Jr., Dustin Lawrence Juhan, and Lorelei Skylar Griffin; great grandson Trevor Mitchell Sidenstricker; two sisters Carol Stalnaker and Wanda Stalnaker; and brother Jack Sidenstricker; and in-laws, nieces, and nephews, who all adored him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Nellie (Kinnaird) Sidenstricker, brothers Johnny Sidenstricker, Jim Sidenstricker, and Charles Sidenstricker, and grandson DJ Juhan.

The youngest of seven children, Larry was a proud native of West Virginia, a respected Huey crew chief that did two tours in Vietnam, and a dedicated co-business owner with friend Scott Donnelly for nearly 30 years. A friend to everyone, he was an amazing family man that told the best stories, had the best laugh, and made the best blueberry banana bread ever.

He was an avid gardener who was always happy to share his knowledge and harvest with neighbors. A master of all trades, he was happiest being of service to everyone he met, but most of all to his girls by being their own personal handyman. Larry also always had a soft spot for animals of all kinds. One of his last animal-saving acts was driving two geese to an animal sanctuary with his best friend and neighbor for over 20 years, Richard Walker.

The family will be hosting a Military Celebration of life Ceremony at Krodel Park in Point Pleasant, West Virginia on Saturday, May 27th. The ceremony will be at the large pavilion near the fort at 12 PM noon. Lunch will be served afterwards.

We encourage everyone to wear light and bright clothing rather than black. In lieu of flowers, Larry would have appreciated donations to be made to Mason County Animal Shelter (donate via PayPal) in West Virginia or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) as he loved children and animals greatly.
