Lester (Bud) A. Putney, Sr., 81, of Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio. He was a WWII Veteran and had retired from Ohio River Company and Appalachian Tire Products.
He was born, March 7, 1927, in Apple Grove, West Virginia, to the late Richard W. and Norabelle (Coleman) Putney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years in May, Edna "Toots" A. Putney of Gallipolis Ferry; five daughters, Dianna and Tom Angel of Crown City, Ohio, Vickie Hanning and Jason Young of Glenwood, West Virginia, Wanda Putney and Joyce and Kenny Oliver all of Point Pleasant and Trudy and Gary Baisden of Hickory, North Carolina; two sons, Roger and Lydia Putney and Lester and Mary Putney all of Point Pleasant; one sister, Juanita Fellure Knapp; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 6,2009, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, with Pastor Carl Swisher, officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery, Crab Creek, Gallipolis Ferry, West Virginia. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 until 8:30 P.M., Thursday, March 5, 2009.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren, Meggan, Joe, Steven, Jeremy, Eric, Shannon, Kim, Jacob, Angela, Jennifer, Stephanie, Philip, Barry, Monica, Jason, Jenny and Lucy.
