Melvin "Weetsy" Johnson, age 63, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at his home in Point Pleasant.

Weetsy was born in Point Pleasant on May 19, 1962, to Melvin and Laura Mae (Perry) Jones.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Laura Mae Jones, two brothers; Bobby "Boz" Johnson and Ricky Johnson; a son Jason Ritchie; and his special aunt, Arnie Roberts.

Weetsy was a very giving and friendly man who adopted his close friends and considered them family. He worked most of his life in the building trades and was an avid carpenter and electrician. When he was not working, he enjoyed spending time hanging out and experiencing life with his friends.

He is survived by his sisters, Angie (Ernie) Sizemore, Cheryl (Charles "Possum") Spencer and Misty (Rusty) Lucas; daughters, Brandy (Jason) McMillan and Chelsea Johnson; special friends, John Gleason and Dan Atkinson; as well as several grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services for Melvin will be private, and burial will follow in Suncrest Cemetery in Point Pleasant, WV. You may offer condolences to the family via this webpage.
