Owen Eugene "Gene" Plants, 68, of Point Pleasant, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 10, 2009, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a retired U.S. Postal Carrier.

Owen was born, June 18, 1941, to the late James Owen and Bonnie Avaline (Coleman) Plants in Point Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one grandson, Nigel Wayne Thompson.

Owen is survived by his wife, Deloris "Jean" Plants and longtime companion, Mary Ellen Rice; three daughters and son-in-law, Cynthia "Cindy" Lee (Dennis Landis) of Point Pleasant, Lora Thompson (Ray Wimmer) of Point Pleasant and Tina and Gene Allen Clingenpeel of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ellen Louise and Wayne Teetor and Linda Lois and Darrell Craig all of Point Pleasant; two brothers and sister-in-law, James Robert and Marcia Plants of Mt. Alto and Issac Louis Plants of Point Pleasant; four grandchildren, Tyler W. Thompson, M. Kevin Lee, II., Kyle A. Lee and Anthony J. Clingenpeel and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, Point Pleasant. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Flatrock, WV, with Pastor Bob Patterson, officiating. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2009.
