POINT PLEASANT — Pauletta (Akers) Burris, 73, formerly of Point Pleasant, W.Va., was surrounded by her loving family when she went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at First Community Village in Upper Arlington, Ohio, after a long, courageous journey with Alzheimer's disease. She was born Feb. 17, 1941, in Point Pleasant, to the late Paul Akers and Freda J. Akers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents Ernest "Plug" Knopp and Ruth Lee (Gibbs) Knopp, who raised her from the age of 2 and to whom she called "Dad" and "Mom." She is survived by a daughter, Kelly (Paul) Newman, of Upper Arlington; son Mark Burris; grandchild Mathis Newman, who was the delight of her life and brought her great joy; sister Geneie (Ronald) Plantz, of Gallipolis; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Friday April 18, 2014, at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, 1701 Jefferson Blvd., Point Pleasant. Arrangements entrusted to Marlan J.
