Pearl Edward "Big Ed" McDermitt, Jr., 60, of Point Pleasant, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday evening, November 2, 2011, at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehab Center. He was a 1970 graduate of Point Pleasant High School, a member of the 1969 undefeated football team and was the drummer in the Charlie Lilly and the Poorside Band. Ed was born on November 1, 1951, in Point Pleasant, a son to the late Pearl E. McDermitt, Sr. and Lena (Woomer) McDermitt.
In addition to his mother, Ed is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Georgina McDermitt, of Pliny; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Susie and Marvin Wooten and Teresa and David Hereford, all of Point Pleasant; uncle and aunt, John and Pat McDermitt, of Point Pleasant; nieces, Stacy Wamsley, Teresa Krebs and Lori Wills; nephews, Sam Ferrell, Johnny Krebs, Brent Hereford, Josh Hereford and Michael Wooten; several great nieces and nephews and many friends along with a very special friend, DeeDee Lovejoy.
Ed's life will be remembered Saturday, November 5, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Pastors Carl Swisher and Bob Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Flatrock. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service.
