Rebecca L. (Withrow) Thomas, 76, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Celebration Villa, in Teays Valley. She was born December 24, 1949, in Huntington, a daughter to the late Earl E. and Margaret L. (Sexton) Withrow. She was a 1967 graduate of Point Pleasant High School and1971 graduate of Marshall University. She retired after many dedicated years of service as librarian and French teacher for Mason County Schools and preschool teacher at Presbyterian Playschool. She is remembered fondly by her former students.

Becky is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Carroll Thomas, who she met in the 7th grade. She is survived byher daughters, Jessica (Mitch) Harbour, and Rachel Thomas, all of Point Pleasant; her grandchildren, Garrett Harbour and Emma Harbour, and Tristan Denney; and other extended family and friends.

Becky began her career as librarian and French teacher at Hannan High School and served in this role for many years.  During this time, she co-founded the Presbyterian Playschool, the first preschool in Mason County. She later taught French at Point Pleasant High School before returning to teaching preschool until retirement. Her dedication to her students spanned decades and is remembered by many.  Outside of the classroom, Becky spent time organizing libraries at the Point Pleasant River Museum, Presbyterian Church, and many others. During her retirement, she dedicated her time to writing poetry, painting, genealogical research, and caring for her rescue dogs. Her love for her family, children, grandchildren, and her animals was profound and known to all who knew her.  She will be greatly missed as the guiding and nurturing figure for her students.

There will be a service honoring Becky's life at 12:00 pm, Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church, at 8th and Main Streets, with pastors Claire Bass and Bob Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 am until the time of the service. You may offer condolences to the family via this webpage.
