Richard Lee Jarrell age 83 of Point Pleasant, WV slipped away peacefully early on Thursday March 24, 2022 at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Point Pleasant.
Richard was born February 3, 1939 in Uneeda, WV to the late Auldie and Julia (Hogge) Jarrell, besides his parents he is preceded in death by; sons Richard Leo Jarrell and Ronald Lee Jarrell, daughter-in-law, Carol Jarrell, grandson Jonah Jarrell, brother Malcolm Eugene Jarrell of Fort Wayne Indiana, and sister Joann Alley.
Richard believed that work ethic was important and hard work was something to take pride in, and he did just that; not only did he live his life this way, but he did his best to instill those values in his children and grandchildren.
Richard was a longtime member of Teamsters Local 413 and made his living driving truck as an independent owner-operator as well as working for various companies over the years, eventually retiring from Yellow Freight. When he was not on the road he would spend time working his farm and raising prize winning horses; he was also an avid NASCAR fan and loved watching boxing and college football.
Richard married the love of his life in 1962 and the two of them started their family on the shared values of hard work and family, which they passed on to their boys.
Surviving he leaves behind his wife of over 60 years, Doris Jean (Plants) Jarrell, son Robert (Shaya) Jarrell, daughter-in-law Amanda (Smith) Jarrell; grandchildren; Jessica Knaul, Justin Jarrell, Joseph Jarrell, Jacob Jarrell, Mariah Wiess, Thomas Jarrell, Rachel Jarrell, Isaac Jarrell, Lillian Jarrell and Lance Jarrell.
Services for Richard will be held at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home on Sunday March 27, 2022 with visitation from 2-3 and funeral service officiated by Pastor Mel Mock starting at 3:00, burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.
