Richard Lee Mattox, 70, of Leon, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Pleasant Valley Hospital. He had worked at WV Malleable Iron and Pinkerton Security. He was born November 18, 1952, in Point Pleasant, a son to the late Earl Richard and Hazel T. (Rollins) Mattox. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Junior Mattox; and sister, Diana Melton.

He is survived by three children, Rick Mattox, Kevin Mattox and Andrea Patterson, all of Leon; grandchildren, Ricky, Courtney (Matt), Robby (Katie), Katlyn, Taylor and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Owen, Jonathon, and Landon; sisters, Jeannie Davis and Carolyn Russell, both of Leon; and many extended family and friends.

There will be a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Pastor Bob Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Jack Yauger Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. instead of flowers, the family asks for contributions be made to the funeral home to offset funeral expenses.
