Ricky Joe Higgins, 71 passed away suddenly on Friday March 8, 2024 at WVU Medical Center Camden Clark in Parkersburg, WV.

Rick was born in Point Pleasant, WV on January 18, 1953, he was a 1970 graduate of Point Pleasant High School an a retired member of The United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America local #1159.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Riley Higgins and brother-in-law Ralph Patterson.

Ricky was and avid Outdoorsman, he had a passion for trout fishing and loved spending time on the trout streams and took pride in is own hand-made flies that he would spend as much time tying as he did fishing. He was a longtime member of Trout Unlimited, when not on the mountain streams he enjoyed time in the woods hunting turkey and deer, but more than his trout fishing and hunting Ricky loved his family as well as his neighbors and anyone that knows him knew he was always willing to lend a helping hand no matter the situation.

Surviving Rick is his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Julia Matheny Higgins, daughter, Cathy Jo Higgins (Mark Knotts) of Cross Lanes, WV, son, Jimmy Joe (Missy) Higgins of Washington, WV., two grandsons; Joseph Riley Higgins and Zachary Knotts,. his mother Virginia Wallis of Southside, WV.; sister, Debby Patterson of Point Pleasant, WV., Penny (Victor) WIlliamson of Southside, WV.; brother, H.C. Wallis of Southside, WV., also surviving is a very special uncle Larry Pyles along with many nieces and nephews and a host of friends that will all deeply miss him.

Visitation for Ricky will be at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home on Monday March 11, 2024 from 6-8. Funeral will be Tuesday March 12, 2024 at the funeral home at 11:00 with Pastors' Jonathan Pinson and Fred Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery in Leon, WV.
