Robert L. "Bobby" Patterson, took his heavenly flight to his Lord and Savior, on Friday evening, November 3, 2017, at his home, with his family by his side, at the age of 68. He was born on October 12, 1949, in Point Pleasant, the son of the late Robert W. and Hazel (Roach) Patterson. He was a retired chemical operator at ICL-Supresta and Akzo Nobel. He was also a member of the First Church of God.
He had two passions in life, flying radio control airplanes and his two grandchildren. He flew radio control for many years with his friends from KERA Club, in Millwood and Rio Grande, OH. He flew competitively and was a regular contributor to R.C. Report Magazine. As flying became more difficult for him, God blessed him with two grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Even though his illness prevented him from physical activity, they cherished their time by just being together.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Patricia L. (Winter) Patterson, as they just celebrated their 46th anniversary on October 16th. He is also survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Adria Patterson, of Point Pleasant and Bryan and Emily Patterson, of Ona. As mentioned earlier, he is also survived by his two grandchildren, Isabella Grace and Kamron Joel Patterson; a very special uncle and aunt, Bo and Mickey Patterson, of Gallipolis Ferry; brother-in-law, Billy Winter, of South Carolina; and a host of friends that he worked with at the plant and relaxed with at the flying field.
Bobby's life will be remembered at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with his son, Pastor Bob Patterson officiating. Private family burial will be held at Kirkland Memorial Gardens at a later time. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, on Tuesday.
The family has asked that instead of receiving flowers, if you would please make a contribution in his memory to either the First Church of God Building Fund, 2401 Jefferson Ave., Point Pleasant, WV 25550, or to Pleasant Valley Hospice, 1011 Viand St., Point Pleasant, WV 25550.
Finally, Bobby's wish was to be home throughout his illness and death. God's blessings made this possible and we thank Him for His goodness. We also thank Lori Kirker for your kind and serving heart; Sheryl Midkiff, Vickie Hollingshead, Tia Wooten and the entire staff of Pleasant Valley Hospice, for your loving care and compassion, not only for Bobby, but also for his family. We are also grateful for the loving care of Dr. Wes Lieving and staff and Dr. Robert Lewis and staff. The love you've shown will never be forgotten.
