Roger Monroe Hughart, 70, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016, at Abbyshire Place, in Bidwell, OH. He was a retired educator in Mason County Schools, having taught at Wahama High School, where he coached Girl's Tennis and Softball for the Mason County Youth Leagues. He also taught in Clay County. He was a member of the Carpenter's Local #1159 and had attended the Henderson Tabernacle.
Roger was born on August 28, 1946, in Sissonville, a son to the late Edward Virgil and Della May (Campbell) Hughart. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his biological father, Frank Thaxton; and his daughter, Shellie Kae Hughart.
Roger is survived by his wife, Carol (Connolly) Hughart; son and daughter-in-law, Bravin and Leeanna Hughart, of Point Pleasant; daughters, Sherri Morgan, of Hurricane, WV and Kelly Veroski, of Point Pleasant; former son-in-law, Joe Veroski; grandchildren, Shadow Watson, Justin Morgan, Autumn Morgan, Kristin Veroski, Jacob Morgan and Adam Veroski; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph Edward and Barbara Hughart, of Harker Heights, TX and half-siblings in the Thaxton family; and several nieces and nephews.
Roger's life will be remembered at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Pastor Michael D. Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Brewer Cemetery, Point Pleasant, with military honors being rendered by the WV Honor Guard and the American Legion, Mason County Post #23. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
