After a lifelong battle with Type 1 diabetes, Ronald "Ron" E. Robertson, Jr. of Point Pleasant
died Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Born August 9, 1962, he
was the son of the late Ronald E. Robertson, Sr. of Beckley, WV, and the late Nancy Bass of
Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Ron will be missed by his loving wife of 16 years, Sarah; his son, Sam, 15; his sister Terasa and late brother-in-
law, Terry Miller of Charleston, WV; nieces and nephews, Ashley and Andy Riffle
and Teagan and Terynn Miller; great niece, Ellie Maynard; and many extended family members
and friends who had become family. Ron held a special place in his heart for his in-laws, Ellen
Riffle and the late Larry Riffle of Point Pleasant. He will also be dearly missed by Sebastian and
Bailey.
Ron served the State of West Virginia as an attorney for the Public Service Commission for 30-
plus years and was a member of the West Virginia State Bar Association. Despite graduating
from West Virginia University with his accounting and law degrees, he obliged his wife and
cheered on the Marshall Thundering Herd during football and basketball seasons without
complaint unless, of course, they were playing WVU.
Commitment and dedication are the only ways to describe the way Ron served the Point Pleasant
Junior/Senior High basketball program. Through coaching, keeping book for biddy league every
Sunday and for his son's teams throughout the years and any other way he felt like he could step
in and help, Ron loved this program and thoroughly enjoyed being around the game and the
people involved. He lived and breathed whatever activity Sam was involved in and threw himself
into it wholeheartedly.
Ron also had an unrivaled love for college basketball. For the past 20-plus years, he enjoyed his
yearly trip to the NCAA March Madness tournament with friends and more recently, Sam. Shout
out to the "Men of March Madness."
Ron's life will be remembered Thursday, August 2, at 7:00 at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home in
Point Pleasant. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5:00 until the time of service. In lieu
of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Ron's name to the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation. JDRF's mission is to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes and its
complications through the support of research. This organization was very important to Ron and
he made yearly donations and did volunteer work for them. Donations can be made by 1) visiting
